More Crafts!

Even though Christopher has been sick all week, we have been crafting, since March is National Craft Month! We hope you all have been crafting too!!
Here is a picture of a Family Picture Frame Christopher made for a Tiger Cub Scout Elective. The cub scouters made these frames with Shaun on Tuesday night. Christopher made this one as an example since he wasn't feeling well this week. The picture frame is made of jumbo popcicle sticks and he decorated it with rub on stickers. (Some kids used foam stickers to decorate it too.) We attached a thin manly ribbon so the boys could hang it in their room. We also gave an option of putting magnets on it, so the kids could hang it on their refrigerators for everyone to see!
Anneli was busy this week making pretty decorated Glass Magnets. We used a variety of pretty scrapbook paper, flat clear glass marbles, (You know the kid you put on the bottom of flower arrangements.) glue and magnets. She did a great job tracing the flat marbles and cutting out the circles and gluing them on the flat side of the marble. Then she was so excited to add the magnet and stick them to the refrigerator! We don't want to ruin any surprises, since she wants to give them out as gifts, but here's a picture of one of her pretty magnets!

I love to do crafts with Christopher and Anneli! It gives us a chance to spend quality time together, help their development and to let their creative juices flow! Stay tuned to see what we'll make next...

Where Have We Been?

He's so pale!!

I haven't posted in 6 days! (I'm going to back post though! We had a super fun Friday (3/20) & Saturday (3/21), and since this is being used as our family journal, I'm going to backpost it!!) Usually I post a couple times a week. This week has been a bit cRaZy. Poor Christopher has been pretty sick. On Saturday night (3/21) I came home from a friends house and found Christopher asleep on the bathroom floor. He had a major headache, slight fever, and wasn't sure if he was going to barf or not. Poor guy. Sunday he pretty much slept the day away. He stayed home Monday to recover. Monday night he started complaining of a sore throat, so he stayed home on Tuesday so he could go to the doctor. No strep, just a crazy virus/cold thing. Fun, fun, fun. He seemed okay Tuesday afternoon, but Tuesday night he wasn't feeling well again! He was cranky and exhausted--so he stayed home again Wednesday! UGH! Then last night, his fever came back! Needless to say, he's home again--just laying on the couch cranky and exhausted still! I sure hope he's feeling better tomorrow...

A Whirlwind Saturday!

On Saturday morning we woke up bright and early for swimming lessons! I signed the kids up for 9am swimming in the spring so we wouldn't have any soccer or other activity conflicts. Plus, isn't it nice to get up early and then have the rest of the day to do whatever!?

Right after swimming, wet hair and cold, we raced to the Cub Scout Blue & Gold Brunch! The Brunch was great, the friendship was swell and the ceremony was...well, boring if you ask Chris! I thought it was very nice! I look forward to Christopher getting more involved in Scouting as he gets older. What a great organization!
I love my guys in their scout uniforms!

After Cub Scouts, we got caught up with Meme & Pepe and headed off to the open house for a little airport in town. The town wants to buy this airport so they opened it up the the public so we could check it out before the vote next week. We support it and think it would be a great investment for our town. Anyways, the kids had a blast at the airport! They were able to sit in the cockpits of two of the airplanes and had a little lesson on how to fly it! Super fun!

Look, I was there too!! :)

What a fun day! After looking at these pictures, I can see that Christopher wasn't looking too good. We thought he was just tired after two very busy days! You just never know with kids!

First Day of Spring Surprise!!

Today was the first day of Spring, and Christopher didn't have school, it was a Professional Day for teachers, so off we went on a trip! We headed off to Mystic Aquarium again! It's one of Christopher's favorite places to go, since he wants to work with sea animals when he grows up. Mystic wasn't really my plan for the day, but before Shaun left for work he asked me my plans and said he'd be able to meet us at noon at the aquarium. Super fun! I knew the kids would be sooooo very excited!!

The kids got up as usual, we all showered and got dressed. Then we met Memere at a super dangerous new bookstore--75% off publishers prices, need I say more! (If you live nearby in Central CT, you have to check out the new Bargain Bookstore in the Connecticut Commons plaza, where Linens & Things used to be!) It's another one of the Christopher and Anneli's favorite places to go! They both LOVE to read! Definately my children!

After over an hour in the bookstore, we had a quick lunch with Memere at McDonald's and then began the trek to Mystic. We got there about 12:30pm and luckily Shaun wasn't waiting! We went in and sat by the Belugas watching them playfully swimming in circles. The kids were mesmerized. I enjoyed watching them and listening to Christopher tell me tons of wonderful facts about them. That's my little book worm! :) Then my phone rang and who was there beside us watching Belugas too...?

Shaun/Daddy! The kids, and I, were so happy that he was there! It was a great family day at the aquarium!
After a few hours at the aquarium, Shaun had to go back to work. We stayed a bit longer and then back into the car we went. We grabbed a snack and then off to Rocky Neck Beach we went! The kids had a blast walking along the windy beach and collecting shells to bring home.
It was pretty cold, especially for the first day of Spring, but it was beautiful!

Have you filled out your 'March Madness' Brackets?

We have!

Anneli's Picks
Christopher's Picks

My Picks (Crystal)

Shaun has been a little busy with work, so he didn't give us his Completed Bracket yet...maybe he'll post it later...

We aren't even into sports, but every year I like to go through the brackets and have the kids choose their favorite teams. This year Christopher realizes it's not just who you like better, it's about who is better! However, we will admit, we chose UCONN to go all the way, but it may not happen, we just like UCONN Men and Coach Calhoun!! Good luck guys!!!! :)

If you want to get in on the 'March Madness' fun, fill out your own bracket!

Lá Fhéile Pádraig

With it being St. Patrick's Day today, the four of us dressed in our green and wore sparkly green shamrocks on our shirts. (Sorry no pictures!)

In the past I like to make Corned Beef and Cabbage on St. Patrick's Day, but I didn't have much time. Tuesdays are a busy day around here! I couldn't let St. Patrick's Day pass though without having some fun with the color green... We had chicken, green rice and green beans! The kids thought the green rice was super fun and yummier than usual! :) For dessert, Christopher and Anneli made some yummy cookies with green frosting and green sprinkles!A shout out to Pepe! Thanks for making us our Corned Beef and Cabbage for Sunday dinner! YUMMMMMMM!!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
