Fourth of July Weekend

I'm a little behind on this post, but I thought better late than never. I have a hard time blogging on the weekends with Shaun home and I'm still waiting for some pictures of the fireworks from Aunt Valerie, who is in New York right now with Johann. I guess my cell phone pictures will just have to do for now!

On Friday, the Fourth of July, we slept SUPER LATE. Shaun and Christopher got up early and Anneli and I slept until about 10AM! cRaZy! That is so unlike me! I admit, it was nice, and probably needed. We called Meme & Pepe after my shower and we invited them to come with us to see WALL*E. It was a super cute movie--I love Pixar. We all, even Anneli, enjoyed it! Aunt Val was working so Anneli and Christopher want to go again and see it with her.

Anneli's drawing of Wall*E--complete with all the trash around him!

After the movie we had a cookout at Meme & Pepe's house. The kids went swimming with Meme and Shaun. When Aunt Val got home we headed to Lake Compounce to see the fireworks. The kids went on a few rides and had a blast with Aunt Val! Anneli went on a flag ride and sang "Your a Grand Old Flag" with Aunt Val. Super fun times! The fireworks were okay, we were dissapointed that there wasn't any music playing during the fireworks. Oh well, it was a fun family evening!

On Saturday, I slept late again! This time Shaun and Anneli got up early and Christopher and I slept until after 9AM! I'll again admit, it was nice, but so not me. After my shower, we went mall hopping. It's a fun thing to do on a hazy, hot and humid Saturday in the summer! We first went to the Meriden Square Mall to eat. Next, it was off to my favorite, Westfarms! While there we shopped at Anneli's favorite store, The Disney Store, and visted Aunt Valerie at Swarovski--or the "Diamond Store" as Christopher calls it. We had fun checking out tiaras and trying on bracelets and looking at all the pretty glass figures. Thanks Aunt Val for showing us all the pretty delicate things! Then we went to Canton with hopes of getting a new cell phone, but they didn't have what we wanted--hopefully it'll be in later this week.

On Sunday, I didn't not sleep in. Shaun and I woke up at 6:30AM so we could get ready and get to Church in Avon for 9AM. We had to wake the kids up. Anneli practically slept as I dressed her! Lazy kidos! After church Val and I went to a baptism at the Cromwell Ward for a friend of our Family. It was actually my sisters best friend from High School, Jackie. It was a very nice baptism and it was great to see her and some other old friends from the former New Britain Ward! When we got home Shaun cooked a yummy Lemon Pepper Roasted Chicken, sweet potatoes and mashed potatoes for us. YUMMMMY! I'm glad we still had a yummy Sunday dinner even though Dad (our Sunday Chef) was off with Mom in Myrtle Beach! Thanks Shaun!! Then we took a walk around the neighborhood with Aunt Val and then before we knew it, it was bed time, and our long holiday weekend was done!
