Our Weekend at the Tree House--Day #1

Friday afternoon, when Shaun got home from work, we packed up the car and headed off to Root, NY. Where is Root, NY you ask? Root, NY is a tiny town/village outside Canajoharie, NY--about an hour from the capital city of Albany. My Aunt Donna and Uncle Jim built a cute Log Cabin in the woods there. Christopher and Anneli call it "The Tree House", because it's made of trees of course! It's always fun when we spend the weekend there!

We arrived a little late on Friday evening, but the kids were wide awake. Aunt Donna & Uncle Jim met us at a gas station and off we went to "the tree house". The kids loved the roads there! They said it was like a rollercoaster ride at Lake Compounce. We watched the opening ceremonies of the Olympics as Anneli entertained them with her chatterboxness! She just wouldn't shut up!!

Saturday morning, Uncle Jim made us some super yummy blueberry pancakes with the blueberries we picked on Thursday. YUMMMMMY! The bacon was yummy too and seemed to be Anneli's favorite. As we were checking out the beautiful view from the "tree house", Aunt Donna noticed a tree frog on one of her chairs. The kids thought he was cool and took turns petting him! IKKKK! Christopher was a bit timid, but Anneli had no fear at all! She couldn't believe that it peed on the chair when it got scared! The view from the "tree house".
The camouflaged tree frog that the kids thought was cool!

We then got dressed and headed off to pick up Soup Mem and Ray. Then it was off to Cooperstown, NY and the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Here are a few pictures.

Soup Mem & Ray with Anneli and Christopher riding the Trolley to downtown Cooperstown, NY.

See Soup Mem through the window?
She and Ray sat down while we walked around the Hall of Fame.

Our family outside the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

The kids and Shaun with Aunt Donna & Uncle Jim at a cool baseball show. The theatre looked like one of our favorite basball stadiums---can you guess???? FENWAY!

Watching the baseball movie in the Fenway-like theatre.

Check out the Red Sox Locker. Ramirez?!??

Shaun & Christopher checking out the Baseball Card collection. Wow, check out all the cards...

Uncle Jim and the kids doing a baseball puzzle.
The Plaque Gallery--where each Hall of Famer has their own plaque.

Taking a rest in the Plaque Gallery.

Playing a little pretend baseball outside the Hall of Fame.

Christopher with his new Red Sox Baseball Hat! Thanks Aunt Donna & Uncle Jim. Go Red Soxs!!

Down the road from the Baseball Hall of Fame was the Farmer's Museum. The Farmer's Museum is a 1840's farm village--sort of like Old Sturbridge Village. The kids enjoyed the Empire State Carousel there. They also enjoyed the little farm petting area. My city kids got to feed a baby cow from a bottle---definately a highlight for them!

Ray guiding Christopher on the Carousel. Check it out--Christopher rode a beaver! He is the lead animal of the Carousel because he's the state animal of New York. Bet you didn't know that, did you!? Here's Soup Mem and Anneli on the Carousel. Anneli rode Charlotte the Chicken. It was a tall chicken!

Here's Christopher feeding the cute little calf. Isn't he cute?! Too bad they get so big...

Anneli taking her turn feeding the little calf. She was so excited!Anneli dressed in a cute 1800's blue dress. Aww...

Christopher & Shaun watching a demo from the Printer.

Christopher & Anneli in a 1840's one room schoolhouse.

Now Miss Anneli is the teacher!

The kids learning how to milk a cow as Aunt Donna looks on.

As we were a heading out a butterfly landed on Uncle Jim's colorful shirt! Anneli thought it was pretty cool.

As I said before, she has no fear!

Next stop on our tour of Cooperstown was DoubleDay Field. While there we watched a few innings of an amateur ball game of the New York Yankees vs. Chicago Cubs. (They were just dressed in those uniforms--it wasn't really them.)

The crew, watching baseball at Doubleday field.

We ended the day off with yummy ice cream! Definately a summer favorite! Thanks Soup Mem & Ray!

What a long day! Stay tuned for Our Weekend at the Tree House Day#2, which is just as busy and fun as today!!
