Weekend in Review...

We had a hectic weekend. Let's see, where do I start...

Shaun got home on Friday night, and we went to dinner at Chili's. It had been a long day with swimming lessons in the morning, lunch with Meme, camp and then dinner. Poor Anneli ate her dinner and then fell right to sleep... We woke up bright and early Saturday morning and headed off to Kuras Berry Farms to pick more blueberries and raspberries with Shaun! It was a fun morning. The grass was a bit wet and the berry bushes were too, but the berries were big and juicy!! Yummmm! We all filled our baskets and picked about 20 pounds of blueberries and about 2 1/2 pounds of raspberries! Yummm!! Now the fun part....freezing them!! UGH!
We came home for about an hour and the kids enjoyed their little splash pool in the yard. Then it was time for Christopher to head off to the YMCA for a Rock Climbing Birthday Party for his good friend Emily. Nobody made it to the tippy top of the wall, but they all did a great job! Way to go Christopher! I was proud of you!! :)
Then we headed home, woke up Anneli--who had fallen asleep after a busy, busy morning--and we were off to a friends house in Lebanon, CT for their Annual Pig Roast Picnic. The kids had fun, and didn't want to leave even though they didn't know any of the kids! Sorry I have no pictures!

Sunday was a lot more relaxing and not as busy as Saturday! We woke up and enjoyed fresh Blueberry Pancakes! Thanks Shaun!!! They were delicious as always, but even better with the fresh picked berries!! Then it was off to church.

We ate Sunday dinner as always with my parents & Aunt Val. After dinner, we headed off to Tomaso Nauture Park in town. The nature park is small, but it was a nice peaceful walk and we saw TONS of painted turtles, a huge snapping turtle, a muskrat, some huge fish swimming, two rabbits, and a cute little frog. The kids were pretty excited because they picked up the little frog. IKK!!! Of course I didn't have my camera, but Shaun captured the little frog on his cell phone camera!

What a hectic, fun summer weekend!! :)

What Was I Thinking!!?!?!

I had big plans to renovate the kids bedrooms upstairs this summer! My plan was to empty everything from upstairs, rip out the carpet (since it bothers Christopher's skin), paint the walls in both rooms, install hardwood flooring throughout the upstairs and then decorate the kids rooms according to their wishes.

With our trip to Pennsylvania, the kids trip to SC, swimming lessons, camp, and playdates, when have I had time do to anything upstairs!?!? UGH!! So far I emptied all their 'stuff' from their room--just not their beds. Today I started to rip up the carpet while they were at camp. It's not going to be a bad job, I just need to find the time to do it...

What was I thinking!?!? This is sooooo not a job for the summer!

Wish me luck!!!

What a Day!!

Since we have been running non-stop so far this summer, today was the kids first day of Swimming Lessons and Camp!

Swimming lessons went very well. {Sorry I have no pictures!} Anneli is in Level 1 and Christopher is in Level 3. They were both excited to see their friends at the pool. Christopher was super siked because his best friend Zak was in his lesson! Not sure if it is a good thing, but they both had a blast. I was very, very happy because Anneli was listening to the instructors and even going underwater! I admit, I bribed her a little, but she is doing awesome!!

We then stopped at McDonald's and grabbed Happy Meals for lunch, which we brought home and ate as a picnic in the living room. We did a few things around the house and then it was off to Camp!
As I was dropping them off at camp, my cell phone rang. It was Shaun inviting me on a lunch date to Wendy's! I love having him working locally (he's usually working on site about an hour or so away from home) so we can have lunch together--no kids is even better!! :) It's good and bad that he will only be working in the main office a little longer since he's got another project starting soon. This project is at five different locations around the state, but he'll love it! Lots of driving but what else is new!!

After lunch, I went home and worked on the kids bedroom renovations (I'll post about that separately soon...) and before I knew it, it was time to pick the kids up at camp. They had a blast and can't wait to go again tomorrow---hopefully it doesn't rain! Check out the hats they designed! Super cute!!

The kids were a little tired after camp, but our day wasn't done yet! When Shaun got home, we caught up with his cousin Renee who was here in CT (6 minutes away!) at a Math Conference. We picked her up at her hotel and took her to dinner at Lake Compounce! We didn't have much time, but it was nice having dinner, walking around, going on a few rides and enjoying each other's company. Anneli totally took a shine to Renee! Too bad she's going to school in Texas!!

The kids were exhausted and fell asleep on the ride to drop Renee off at her hotel. What a great day!! Thanks for catching up with us Renee!!

Off & Running!

This weekend was the 2nd Annual GE Petit Family Foundation Road Race here in town. Shaun and Valerie ran the 5K. They both weren't that prepared, but they both did better than last year! Christopher and Anneli were up early and ran the Fun Run again this year with Ronald McDonald and Rocky--the mascot of the New Britain Rock Cats. It was a great day!!
