Memorial Day Parade

Keeping with tradition, we all marched in our local Memorial Day Parade on Memorial Day.
Anneli was very excited because she was marching with her Soccer Team and NOT with the Cub Scout Pack!! :) She was sooooo excited and had a great time! She was one of the only kids who didn't complain about walking, and walking, and walking..... Way to go "Glamour Girl"!

Christopher and Shaun marched with their Cub Scout Pack. Christopher had a great time too holding the pack banner and the American Flag!

The OTHER Way!!

Anneli started playing soccer this season. I love K-1 Soccer! The kids are super cute! You have some kids just meandering around the field, skipping, picking flowers, watching airplanes, waving to the spectators, and kicking the ball the wrong way! I love it!

Anneli is doing very well! She doesn't usually have her head in the clouds! Sometimes we do have to wake her up a bit, but her coach says she's a go getter. She definately gives it her all when she's in! It's fun to watch her with her cute little pink shin pads and girly cleats--they have pink butterflies on them!!! Got to be fashionable, right?

Do Headers in Soccer Cause Brain Damage?

I sure hope not, but Christopher was a little concerned about it during his first soccer practice this season. He had never used his head to bounce the soccer ball before and his coach was making the kids do it in a practice drill! He couldn't believe it! :) He came home a little upset that he couldn't do it and he wondered if it could hurt him!?! Poor kid. He's been practicing for a few weeks now, and he's feeling better about the whole thing---maybe it's the brain damage. ;) Luckily, he's never had to do a header in a game--let's just keep it that way!

So as you can tell, Christopher is playing soccer. He took a season off and then decided to try it again this spring. His team is named "Fire" and they have been on FIRE! They are a very competative team. The assistant coach is a bit professional, a little over the top, screams and yells A LOT---but he will most certainly learn a lot--as he gets hollered at....a lot...

Last Day of Soccer!

Today was the end of the year Soccer Party with Pizza, snacks and a metal.
It's too bad, he's not sure if he wants to play soccer again in the fall. I hope he does---even though there are times when I am not a big fan of evening soccer practices or Saturday games...

It looks like he's having fun though, doesn't it!?

The Fall 2008 Soccer Season has started!

The Fall 2008 Soccer Season has started! Our fall will be filled with Tuesday practices and Saturday games...fun, fun, fun! As I was silenting wishing for it to rain, Christopher was so excited to get out there and practice again! His team is made up of First Graders and Kindergarteners. It's fun to watch them play! They go the wrong way, steal the ball from their own team members and kick the ball out of bounds and keep going! There were already three little kids who don't like it and may not play. I guess that'll mean Christopher will get a lot of playing time! He'll be happy! :) It'll be a fun season!!

Anneli did a great job cheering on the sidelines! She's a little disappoined and can't understand why she can't play, since she's all grown up and goes to school! Poor girl. She did have fun though watching and flying...

After watching his soccer practice this evening I'm so glad that I sent Christopher to Kindergarten last year and didn't hold him back. The Kindergarten kids seem so young! I think it would have been tough for him. Now he's a big shot First Grader...gone all day! :)

I can't believe tomorrow is Friday already and I haven't posted pictures from our Memorial Day Weekend! UGH! This week has flown right by! Here is what we were up to on Memorial Day Weekend.

We were delighted that our family from Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and New York were able to come down to Connecticut and celebrate Anneli's 3rd Birthday and Aunt Valerie graduating from Boston University with us! Thanks for making the trip everyone--in Anneli's words, "It was so much fun!" Anneli's Little Mermaid Cake

What a long hard day...

Shhhhh....naptime!

Sunday- Family Trip to Kent Falls State Park

On Sunday afternoon we took a trip to Kent Falls State Park. It was warm and the park was crowded, but we had a fun time as a family. We hiked up to the top and got some nice pictures of the falls! Good walking guys!

Monday-Marching in the Memorial Day Picnic and going to Lake Compounce.

Monday Christopher and Shaun marched in the Memorial Day Parade in town with Christopher's Soccer Team. He had fun, marching with his friends and throwing candy to parade spectators. It was a beautiful day for marching--not too hot and not too cold. It was just right!

Christopher's soccer team. Yeah--there are two other boys, but they didn't march--so it was Christopher and all the girls!

Anneli and her friend A picking up candy on the parade route.

The Plainville Soccer Club!

Meme & Pepe watching the parade from the second location!

Marching past the library...the last leg of the parade--even Anneli marched at the end!! (Christopher is #3)

After the parade we went back to Meme & Pepe's house and then jumped in the van and headed to Lake Compounce. Lake Compounce is a super fun amusement park one town over from us in Bristol. We buy season passes and go there quite a few times during the summer to swim, ride rides and sometimes to just walk around! The kids absolutely love that place!

That was pretty much our long Memorial Day weekend. It was super fun and went by way too fast! I love long weekends!
