A Day at Mystic Aquarium!

We woke up this morning thinking of things to do. Christopher and Anneli wanted to go to the Mystic Aquarium. We picked up my parents and headed down to Mystic. The kids always love to go and they love to bring others like my parents so they can show off their vast knowledge of Sea Creatures. Christopher should really work here when he gets old enough! He wouldn't have to learn too much more! :)

Our Two Little Fish!

Anneli is very brave this fall and has joined Swim Team with Christopher! YIPPEEE!! That means I don't have to entertain her during the many practices and LONG swim meets, like I did last year with my many bags of tricks and quiet toys! YIPPEE!!! I can watch the practices/meets, read a book, visit with friends, or play with my phone! :)

Today was a practice swim meet where the kids just practice like it's a swim meet. It was fun to watch all the new kids, like Anneli, jumping off the block and swimming their little hearts out.

We are very proud of our 'Two Little Fish'. They are doing a super great job! Way to go Christopher & Anneli!

Christopher getting ready for his heatstopping to pose before getting on the block,
Anneli at the Practice Swim Meet!!!
Sitting quietly waiting for her turn. She's sitting with her good friend Syd. Look how little she is--her little feet don't even touch the ground!!

She's a little nervous as she approaches the block---or the edge of the deep end of the pool!

No fear---there she 'dives' right in!!

She's swimming her little heart out as everyone cheers her on from the bleachers and side of the pool!!
Time for backstroke. She takes a minute to look at the crowd and then says loud enough for everone to hear 'Hi Nick--am I doing it right?" Nick is one of her coaches and also calls the heats. Everyone laughs and thinks she's so cute! The kids know Nick very well since he has taught their swimming lessons since they were 6 months old!! That's probably why she's not afraid to swim with all the big kids!

Way to go guys! Keep up the great work!!

More May Highlights!

I know it's June, but we still haven't finished posting our many May adventures! We had a lot of them!

On Saturday, May 15th, after Anneli's soccer game at noon, we packed into the car and headed to New Hampshire! We were going to spend some time and have dinner with Grandpa and Nancy! We ended up doing a little geocaching and going out to eat---at Bob's Clam Hut of course!!! :)

On Thursday, May 20th, Anneli had a super fun Birthday Party at Jumpin' Jamin' with her friends. Jumpin' Jammin' is a place with inflatable jump toys for kids and grown ups too! She and her friends had a great time!!! Even though it was during the day, Dad (Shaun) and Aunt Val came! Super fun!!On Friday, May 21st we ended up heading back up to New Hampshire for a funeral for Shaun's Aunt Marion. Her 'celebration of life' was held at Sandy Point Discovery Center in Greenland, New Hampshire. We visited with family we seem to only see at weddings and funerals and then the kids and I explored the Discovery Center. It was pretty cool. Then it was off geocaching along the Great Bay!

After hanging out in the by the shore and in the woods exploring and geocaching, we headed over to Aunt Amanda's Silpada jewelry party. Anneli had fun catalog shopping with Grande Memere. Anneli even bought a beautiful necklace with a dog & cat on it!

We drove home to CT that evening, and then the next morning--bright and early, we were back in the van and driving to upstate NY to visit more family! We had another Birthday party for Anneli with Aunt Donna, Uncle Jim, Soup Mem & Ray. Oh yeah, Rosie and Lola (AKA Paco) were there too! Those are Anneli's special dog friends! :)
Christopher enjoyed playing Wii with Uncle Jim---since we don't have one at home.
We also took Aunt Donna & Uncle Jim Geocaching of course! We had a great time! Thanks for having us, we can't wait to visit again and do more New York GEOCACHING!!
I think that's all, for now...

Do Headers in Soccer Cause Brain Damage?

I sure hope not, but Christopher was a little concerned about it during his first soccer practice this season. He had never used his head to bounce the soccer ball before and his coach was making the kids do it in a practice drill! He couldn't believe it! :) He came home a little upset that he couldn't do it and he wondered if it could hurt him!?! Poor kid. He's been practicing for a few weeks now, and he's feeling better about the whole thing---maybe it's the brain damage. ;) Luckily, he's never had to do a header in a game--let's just keep it that way!

So as you can tell, Christopher is playing soccer. He took a season off and then decided to try it again this spring. His team is named "Fire" and they have been on FIRE! They are a very competative team. The assistant coach is a bit professional, a little over the top, screams and yells A LOT---but he will most certainly learn a lot--as he gets hollered at....a lot...
