Halloween Weekend Roundup!

Our Halloween Festivities started on Wednesday with the Cub Scouts Annual Halloween Pack Meeting. It was fun. Christopher was a Native American, and Anneli was Raggety Ann---not Wendy from Wendy's like the other Cub Scouters thought! She was super cute in my old costume! :)
On Friday, we rushed out of school and got into our Halloween costumes SUPER fast! Christopher was a Native American (yes, I made his costume!). Anneli was a black cat! Then we raced over to the Recreation Department for their Annual Halloween Party at Veteran's Park. It was freezing--but a lot of fun as usual! The kids both won prizes for their awesome costumes! :) Way to go guys!

After the Rec Center Party, Mom took the kids home so her and Valerie could take them to the Trunk-or-Treat at church. Shaun and I were heading to a friends wake in town and then we headed off to the church to pick the kids up.

The kids then got into their costumes again on Sunday evening and went Trick-or Treating around town with Shaun and Aunt Val, while I stayed home handing out candy to the kids in town. As usual I was dressed as the 'Wicked Witch'. It sure doesn't scare the neighborhood kids away. I had a little over 120 Trick-or-Treaters!!

Halloween (Catch Up!)

Sorry they took FOREVER to post, but here are pictures from Halloween! Halloween was a crazy week around here. Christopher was sick with some terrible flu/virus--NOT the swine flu, but some terrible thing he couldn't get rid of! Poor guy missed four days of school, but enjoyed some Mommy and me time!

This year for Halloween, Christopher designed his own costume. He was a Blue Poison Dart Frog. He designed it and Shaun and I had to create it! UGH--it's tough working with those two!

This year Anneli decided she was going to be a Witch, just like mom!! Don't be too frightened!

It was super fun dressing up with the kids! Fun, fun, fun!

Trunk-R-Treat
Luckily Trunk-R-Treat at Church was earlier in the month because earlier Christopher wasn't feeling well closer to Halloween. We had a great time with our church friends and Aunt Val and Johann too!

Our Halloween Weekend Review!

Let's see...our weekend...well, it was just as busy as usual!

Friday started out with Christopher getting out of school at 3:30pm. Anneli, or should I say 'Dorothy', and I went to pick Christopher up and then rushed him home where he and I quickly changed into our Halloween costumes. He was 'Luke Skywalker' and I was the 'Wicked Witch'. Then we jumped in the car and made it to the Town Recreation Centers Halloween Party before 4pm. We watched the annual magic show waiting for the Costume Parade down the center of town. Fun, fun, fun!
Then we went home to meet up with Shaun, who got home a little earlier than usual. (Not really, but 5:15pm is pretty early for him!)

The kids quickly ate before heading off Trick-or-Treating with Dad and Aunt Valerie. I stayed home and handed out candy to the kids who came around our neighborhood. At one point I got a little nervous, here's what happened. I heard a car door, so I peeked out the front door. A car had parked going the wrong way in front of my house. The car was an old Crown Victoria--sort of like an unmarked police car with an antenna and large mirror on the side. Anyways, the guy inside got out, in full army fatigues. Okay it's Halloween...He went to his trunk, opened it, and pulled out the biggest gun! Thank goodness it was Halloween, right? Then he closed the trunk and laid the gun on the trunk and grabbed a black hat/face mask out of his pocket and put it on. He then grabbed the gun and attached it to his fatigues and stood in the road for a few seconds... Even though it was Halloween, I'll admit it freaked me out a bit! I locked the door and called Shaun to see where he was...it was all good, it was funny because Shaun and I saw the guy later and it was a little freaky. The gun looked so real! After the kids were Treated out, we dashed off to my parents house where the kids went with Aunt Val to a few additional houses in their neighborhood. Then we dumped out and inspected all the kids loot, had a few treats, they brushed their teeth, got into jammies and we went home. Luckily, they fell asleep on the way home!

Saturday was a crazy day. The kids started off with swimming lessons at 10am. Christopher and Shaun then ran to his LAST Soccer game! YIPPPEE!--sorry! I met them after Anneli's swimming lesson--without Anneli. Anneli went with Memere, Pepere and Aunt Valerie to Massachusetts to visit Grandma Fox. After Christopher's soccer game he had a Pizza/Awards Ceremony. He was pretty excited to get a Medal and a Trophy! Super cool!Right after the Pizza Party, we jumped in the car and headed off to Massachusetts to catch up with my cousin Laurie who is up from Georgia and Soup Mem & Ray and Aunt Donna & Uncle Jim who came to Massachusetts as well. It was great to see you all! I didn't take too many pictures, but here are a few.
Luckily Sunday was a little more quiet. Christopher had a talk in his Children's Class at Church, about how he is thankful to be a beloved Child of God. He read it all by himself and did a fabulous job! We are proud of you Christopher! Then we spent the rest of the day with Memere, Pepere and Aunt Valerie. What a fun weekend! :)

Halloween Playgroup at the Park!

Yesterday, we had the opportunity to catch up with some old friends at their Halloween Playgroup at the Park. It was a bit chilly, but Anneli had fun playing, giving her little treat bags she helped put together, and getting some treats too! Fun times--even if it was rather chilly! :)

Annual Pumpkin Carving

Yesterday after school, I took Christopher to pick out another pumpkin, since his other pumpkin was stolen. He thought it was pretty cool because his new pumpkin is much bigger than his old one.

Before Shaun got home, we started getting the pumpkins ready. We cut the top and emptied out the "seeds and ikky gook"--that's what Anneli called it!

(Photo my little photographer, Christopher)

Then we baked the pumpkin seeds. The kids LOVED them!

When Daddy came home he helped them cut out the faces they drew on their pumpkins.

The artists with their finished masterieces.
Here are their pumpkins glowing. Be sure to check out Anneli's Pumpkin below...**

**She has earrings!**

Carving pumpkins together is always such a fun time and a great family memory!

“May the Force be with you.”

Yes, the Star Wars theme seems to be the costume of choice among young boys this year! At least that is what we saw at the Cub Scout Pack Meeting/Halloween Party last night. Christopher was dressed in his Anakin Skywalker costume that I made. Oops wait a minute, I forgot, Christopher changed his character, he is Luke Skywalker NOT Anakin anymore. He found out that Anakin is Darth Vader, and he wasn't happy about that!

Anyway, the party last night was super fun! Shaun was running late from work, so Anneli and I ran Christopher over and ended up staying even after Shaun got there. I wasn't planning on staying, but it looked like it was going to be too much fun to just leave and go home! The boys got into their Den units and made their way around 6 different activities that each Den Leader was in charge of. Shaun was in charge of 'Alien Disection'. Check out the pictures below!
Activity Number 1 was 'Alien Disection'. As you can see from the pictures there was a little green alien and you had to stick your fingers in slits in his head and in his stomach and pull out his insides. It was pretty ikkkky! Shaun was the Den Leader in charge of this activity and he couldn't believe all the boys that didn't like to get their fingers dirty with a little green pudding! :)
Activity Number 2 was 'The Mummy Wrap'. The den was divided in two groups. Each group chose a boy who would be wrapped and the other two would wrap him like a mummy. Christopher volunteered to by a 'Mummy'! Activity Number 3 was 'Marshmallow Races'. You hold a spoon in your mouth with a marshmallow on it and you run from one side of the room to the next and back. Christopher kept dropping his marshmallow! It was fun to watch the kids--some were so cautious while others were fast!
Activity Number 4 was Anneli's favorite, 'Decorating & Eating Cupcakes'. YUMMM!!
Activity Number 5 was 'Pumpkin Sweep'. You use a broom and sweep your pumpkin down the driveway and back. It was harder than it looked--those pumpkins can get away!

What a super fun night for everyone! Christopher must have been whipped, because he slept in this morning! Early to bed tonight! :)
