Field Day!

Today was Field Day for grades 1-5 at our Elementary School. Since Kindergarten had field day on Friday and there was no blow up slide, they get to come out and slide on the slide provided by PTO and also participate in the Annual Class Tug of War Competition! It was a great day!

Anneli's Kindergarten Class playing Tug-o-War. For the first time in forever, Mrs. Hoopers class actually won! Way to go guys!!!

Christopher's class playing Tug-o-War...I was there too! I was caught helping kids off the slide, with my own camera!! :)

Anneli waiting patiently with her friends for their turn to slide down the big bouncy slide!

Some random field day activities...

Even Memere was there helping her Kindergarten friends!
Field Day always means summer vacation is just around the corner...

These Things don't Happen Here.....

After our Girl Scout Camporee, we decided to take a ride to see the Tornado devastation in Central Massachusetts. Since I was born and raised in Brookfield, Massachusetts (just outside Sturbridge) the tornado hit too close to home for me. It was crazy to see the damage...These things just don't happen here. It's more of a midwest thing.....not anymore...

These things just don't happen here...

Girl Scout Camporee

This weekend was the Girl Scout Camporee. We had heard about how fun it was so we signed up as a family, even though nobody else from my Daisy Troop was interested. They are a little young. Anyway, things were crazy this week and Anneli wasn't feeling well. Stupid Lyme Disease! We decided not to sleep out on Friday night, but we would get there Saturday morning and hang out for the day.
That is just what we did. We got there at about 8:30am and went on a hike with our 5th Grade Junior Friends. They happen to have a son that Christopher knows from Cub Scouts too! It was fun.

Next up was stations where the kids did a bunch of different arts and craft projects. They were fun too!

The best part of the day was when they opened the waterfront! It was SUPER hot! We all had a blast using the kayaks and paddle boats! Super fun!

The kids also fished with our neighbors. Thanks Rosa and Tal! :)

The kids, especially Anneli, was exhausted after that! So we piled in the car and took a quick ride to Massachusetts to check out the Tornado devastation in central Massachusetts. It was terrible! It has hard to believe that as you drove through the streets of Sturbridge, Brimfield, Monson and Springfield that you were in Massachusetts. These types of disasters happen in the midwest, not here in our backyard....

Kindergarten Three Piggy Opera!

Today, Anneli's Kindergarten class performed the Three Piggy Opera at school. Meme was there and Aunt Valerie, Pepe, Daddy and even Christopher came to watch! I was lucky enough to be on stage with the kids playing the piano for them! Those "Three Piggy Opera" songs have been in my head for WEEKS!! :) Anneli and her friends did a super job!

Anneli's Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Hooper, is retiring this year, after 33 years of teaching. Anneli surprised her and sang her a song, "American Tears" after the 3 Piggy Opera performance. Anneli learned the song a bit in class with Mrs. Hooper. She did a GREAT job and we were so proud of her getting up in front of all the parents that were there.

Way to go Anneli!

The first picture below is of Anneli singing during the morning performance. She is in afternoon kindergarten, but when your mom plays the piano for both sessions of Kindergarten, you have to sing in both performances---whether you like it or not! :)
The rest of the pictures are of the afternoon Kindergarten performance...

This is Anneli getting ready to sing her solo, "American Tears"...See Memere in the back?? She's a K-PM Para! :)
Anneli getting a hug from her awesome Kindergarten teacher and dear friend, Mrs. Hooper!

Great Job, Anneli!
